UNDERSTANDING INSTRUMENTATION, CONTROLS & AUTOMATION SEMINARS
This 3 day seminar is intended for engineers, technologists and others who
wish to learn how modern computer-based technologies are used to control HVAC,
water & wastewater,
manufacturing, petrochemical and other processes.
Using practical examples, the seminar introduces the fundamentals of process
control and builds into more complex systems including PID control, SCADA and
PLCs.
Intended for those who work in related disciplines such as electrical, mechanical,
chemical and civil, the seminar utilizes a comfortable learning pace and live
demonstrations. No electrical background is required.
Instructor, Glen Horne C. E.T., will share his 30+ years of experience in
a range of process control, including HVAC, water & wastewater, petrochemical
and manufacturing settings. He has extensive experience in design, installation,
and commissioning of control systems, as well as teaching to engineers, scientists,
technologists and operators. He is a 1977 graduate of the Northern Alberta
Institute
of Technology in Electronics Engineering Technology and also holds a Journeyman
Certificate in instrumentation in Alberta. He is certified as a Certified Engineering
Technologist (CET) with the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET)
as well as an Applied Science Technologist (A. Sc. T.) with the Applied Science
Technicians and Technologists of British Columbia (ASTTBC). Glen served as
president of ASET 1996 to 1998 and as National Director of the Canadian Council
of Technicians
and Technologists in Ottawa from 1997 to 2001 and is also a regular columnist
with ProcessWest magazine.
